Database Engineer – Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Database Engineer to design, implement, and maintain efficient, secure, and scalable database systems. The ideal candidate will work with relational and NoSQL databases to ensure data integrity, availability, and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain database architectures and schemas.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functions.
• Manage databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB.
• Monitor database performance and implement optimization techniques.
• Ensure data security, integrity, backup, and recovery.
• Support data integration, migration, and ETL processes.
• Identify and resolve database issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with software developers, data engineers, and analytics teams.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow database best practices.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of SQL and database management concepts.
• Understanding of relational database design, normalization, and indexing.
• Familiarity with MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar database systems.
• Understanding of database performance tuning and query optimization.
• Knowledge of data backup, recovery, and security practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
• Basic understanding of cloud database services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of Python or scripting for database automation.
• Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and data modeling.
• Experience with Git and database version control tools.
